Ashwagandha (KSM-66) guide
Ashwagandha gummies vs capsules: cost per 600 mg
Ashwagandha gummies hold less KSM-66 per piece than capsules. How many you need for 600 mg, the sugar that comes with it, and the cost per 600 mg vs capsules.
Gummies are popular because they are easy to take. The trade-off is dose. A capsule can hold 600 mg of extract; a gummy has to fit the extract in with sugar, pectin and flavor, so each piece holds less.
How much KSM-66 is in an ashwagandha gummy?
It depends on the brand, so read the Supplement Facts panel. Two examples:
- Goli Ashwagandha Gummies: the label states 300 mg of KSM-66 (with vitamin D2) per 2 gummies, and the product page suggests "2 gummies, twice daily". That is 600 mg of KSM-66 across four gummies a day.
- Micro Ingredients KSM-66 Gummies: 300 mg of KSM-66 per 2 gummies, 120 gummies a bottle, sold as sugar-free. That is also 150 mg per gummy, so 600 mg takes four.
- KSM-66 capsules: bottles on our list state 600 mg in one or two capsules, or 1,000 mg in three.
The trials people cite most often used 250 to 600 mg of root extract a day. See KSM-66 vs root powder for the details.

The gummy and capsule tabs are not ranked against each other on the list, because they are different forms. Put side by side here, you can see how much the gummy format adds per 600 mg.
Why do gummies cost more per dose?
- Less extract per piece. You need several gummies for one studied dose.
- More ingredients. Sugar or sweetener, pectin and flavor take up room in each piece.
- Fewer doses per bottle. Goli's 60-gummy bottle at four a day lasts 15 days.
The same pattern shows up with creatine, melatonin and other gummies. See supplement gummies: what you really pay per dose.
How much sugar comes with a gummy dose?
Check the label, since formulas differ. Goli's panel lists 2 g of total sugars per gummy, which is 8 g a day at four gummies. Micro Ingredients sells its KSM-66 gummy as sugar-free. If you are watching sugar, a capsule gives the same extract with none.
When does a gummy make sense?
- You cannot or will not swallow capsules.
- You take a lower dose, and one serving covers it.
- You value the format enough to pay for it.
If none of those apply, a KSM-66 capsule is the cheaper way to get the same extract.
Is it safe to take ashwagandha gummies every day?
The U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health says ashwagandha may be safe for up to three months, and that rare cases of liver injury have been linked to ashwagandha supplements. It advises against it in pregnancy and breastfeeding, and for people with thyroid or autoimmune conditions. Keep gummies away from children; they look like candy. Frequently asked questions
How many ashwagandha gummies equal 600 mg?
It depends on the label. At 150 mg of KSM-66 per gummy, as in Goli's 300 mg per two gummies, 600 mg takes four gummies.
Are ashwagandha gummies as good as capsules?
If the gummy states the same extract, the extract is the same. You usually get less per piece and pay more per 600 mg, with added sugar.
Why is the gummy tab separate on the list?
Gummies are a different form with different ingredients. We keep them apart from capsules so each tab compares like with like.
Do ashwagandha gummies have sugar?
Many do, and the amount varies by brand. Goli lists 2 g per gummy; Micro Ingredients sells a sugar-free one. Read the Supplement Facts panel for total sugars per serving, and multiply by how many servings you take.
