Who this covers

This policy applies to valueservings.com and the pages on it. Value Servings is a United States website, built for shoppers in the United States, and this policy is written under US law. Value Servings is the operator of the site. We do not require an account.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Device and log data. When you load a page, our host records the usual request data: IP address, date and time, the page you requested, the referring URL, browser type, device type, operating system, and language. An IP address can be used to estimate a coarse location such as a city or region. We do not use it to find your street address.
Site use. We measure which pages and lists people open, in aggregate and, where the tool allows it, as events tied to a browser. That includes pages viewed and the path someone took through the site.
Buy clicks. When you use a Buy link, we record the listing, the retailer, the time, which button you used, the page you were on, whether you were on a phone or a computer, and a creator code if the link you followed included one. We keep that record so we can see which products people open and so a retailer can attribute a commission.
A random visitor ID. We set a cookie with a random ID that is not your name or email. It lets us show you the same version of a page each visit when we test two versions, and count Buy clicks per version.
Your email, only if you give it. Some pages may offer price-drop alerts for a product. If you type in your email, we keep it with the product you asked about and the date. We use it only to send those alerts. Every alert has a way to stop them. We do not sell it or hand it to retailers. If the TikTok Pixel is on the page, it may also send TikTok a hashed copy of the address you type (see the TikTok section below). You can skip the box and still go to the store.
Cookies and similar storage. We use cookies and similar technologies, including local storage where a feature needs it, to run the site and to measure use. Details are in the cookies section below.
Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep the address you used and the contents of the message so we can reply and keep a record of the request.

We do not ask for your health history, and we do not know whether you take a product. A retailer may tell an affiliate program that an order happened after a click. That report is a sale record for commission, not a medical record, and we do not use it to build a health profile.

How we use it

Operate, maintain, and secure the site.
See which lists and products people use, so we can improve them.
Attribute affiliate commissions and credit a creator code.
Remember a preference if a page offers one.
Send price-drop alerts to people who asked for them.
Compare two versions of a page to see which one people use.
Detect abuse, fraud, and broken traffic.
Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

We do not use this information to decide whether a product appears, how it is sorted, or what badge it gets. Affiliate measurement does not change the price on the row.

Legal bases

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on these bases:

Legitimate interests. Running a price site, keeping it secure, measuring how it is used, and attributing commissions.
Consent. For price-drop emails, we rely on the consent you give when you type in your address. You can withdraw it at any time.
Cookies. The site is built for shoppers in the United States and does not show a cookie banner. Wherever you are, the button under “Your privacy choices” turns off every non-essential measurement script on your browser.
Legal obligation. Where we have to keep or disclose information to meet a law.

Cookies and similar technologies

Necessary. Cookies and storage the site needs in order to load and remember a setting you chose on the page. That includes vs_optout (one year), which remembers that you opted out below, and fd_gate_seen in session storage, which stops the price-alert box from opening twice in one visit.
Measurement. Cookies and similar tools that count visits, pages, and referring sites. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics for this. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that last up to two years. The purpose is to understand traffic and which Buy links people use. This also includes our own first-party cookies: fd_vid (the random visitor ID described above, one year), fd_exp (which version of a page you were shown, one year), and vs_ref (a creator code from the link you arrived on, 30 days, so a Buy click can credit that creator).
Advertising measurement (TikTok). We run ads on TikTok. Our pages load the TikTok Pixel, which counts page views and Buy clicks so we can measure and improve those ads. It sets cookies (such as _ttp, and a TikTok click ID in the page address when you arrive from a TikTok ad). We do not load the TikTok Pixel on blog posts or the stack builder, which are about health goals and conditions, or on the unsubscribe page. If you opt out (below) or your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we do not load it at all.
Affiliate. After you click Buy, the retailer or its network may set its own cookies so it can tell that the visit came from Value Servings. Those companies include brand storefronts, resellers, and the affiliate networks they use (such as Awin, CJ, Rakuten Advertising, Impact, ShareASale and Sovrn Commerce). Their cookies follow their policies. We do not control them.
Impact tag. Our pages load a script from Impact, an affiliate network we use. It measures how often our links are seen so we can report on and get paid for referrals, and it may set its own cookies (such as IR_ and impact cookies). Impact handles that data under its own privacy policy. We do not load it after an opt-out.

We do not load Google Analytics, the Impact tag or the TikTok Pixel on the unsubscribe page, whose link identifies your subscription.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking a necessary cookie may break a feature. Blocking a measurement cookie limits what we can see about traffic. Blocking a retailer cookie can stop that retailer from attributing a purchase to us. It does not change the price they charge you.

Hosting. The site is hosted on Vercel. Request logs there can include IP address, user agent, and the URL requested.
Database and email. Click records and price-alert sign-ups are stored in a hosted Postgres database run for us by our database provider. Price-drop emails are sent through Resend, which receives your email address and the email it delivers. Both act only on our instructions.
Retailers and affiliate networks. A Buy click sends you to the retailer with the information that network needs to attribute the visit, such as a tracking parameter.
Measurement providers. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics to count page views and Buy clicks. They receive the usage data they need, such as pages viewed, device type, approximate location, and which Buy link was clicked. We do not send them your email address. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab).
TikTok (advertising measurement). The TikTok Pixel sends TikTok the pages you view and your Buy clicks, with your IP address, browser details, and TikTok cookie or click ID. When you click Buy, our server also sends TikTok that click (the listing, the page you were on, and the same IP, browser, and TikTok identifiers) so the click is still counted if your browser blocks the pixel. When you type your email into a price-alert box on a page where the pixel runs, the pixel's automatic advanced matching turns the address into a one-way hash in your browser and sends TikTok only that hash, so TikTok can tell whether the visit came from someone who saw our ads. TikTok does not receive the address itself, and we never send it from our server. The pixel, and so this matching, never runs on blog posts, the stack builder or the unsubscribe page, or after you opt out. TikTok may use this data under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab), including to match it to a TikTok account. We honor Global Privacy Control for this sharing.
Professional advisers and authorities. When we need them to operate, or when the law requires disclosure.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do share limited data with TikTok to measure our ads (see above), which some laws call “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not allow third parties to advertise to you on Value Servings based on a profile they built elsewhere.

Some US state laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, use “sell” and “share” for certain disclosures of personal information, including disclosures for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information. The data we send TikTok to measure our ads (see “Who we share it with”), including the hashed email described there, may count as “sharing” under those laws.

A browser signal such as Global Privacy Control is an opt-out of sale and sharing. When your browser sends it, or you use the button under “Your privacy choices”, we do not load the TikTok Pixel, Google Analytics or the Impact tag, and we do not send TikTok your Buy clicks or a hashed email. You can also block them with your browser or an extension.

Do Not Track. Browsers' older “Do Not Track” setting has no agreed meaning, so the site does not respond to it. We do honor Global Privacy Control, as described above.

We do not use sensitive personal information, such as health data, to infer characteristics about you, and we keep the ad pixel off the pages about health goals and conditions so an ad platform does not learn which one you read about.

Your privacy choices

Use this button to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information on this browser. It turns off Google Analytics, the Impact tag and the TikTok Pixel, and stops our server from sending TikTok your Buy clicks. It is remembered with a cookie, so repeat it on each browser and device you use.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to get a copy, to opt out of a sale or share, and to appeal a denial. California residents can also use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.

To make a request, email valueservings@gmail.com and say what you want us to do. If it concerns price-drop alerts, send it from the address you signed up with so we can match it; otherwise we may ask for details that let us find the records (for example, the date you signed up). We answer within 45 days. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with “Appeal” in the subject, and we will respond within 60 days.

People in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland can also object to processing based on legitimate interests, ask us to restrict it, and complain to a data protection authority.

How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for the period our host retains them, and longer if we need them to investigate abuse. Click records are kept long enough to attribute commissions and keep ordinary accounting records. Affiliate windows are often a day to about 30 days. We may keep the click record itself longer than that window. Messages you send us are kept as long as we need them to handle the request and any follow-up. An email you gave for price-drop alerts is used until you stop the alerts. After that we keep the address only with a “stopped” mark, so we never email it again, until you ask us to delete it. When we no longer need a record, we delete it or strip the identifiers.

Children

Value Servings is for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Price-drop alerts are only for people 18 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email valueservings@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we hold. No website or transmission is perfectly secure.

International visitors

We operate from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from the laws where you live.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Continued use of the site after the new date means the updated policy applies.
