How it works

Store prices become a cost per stated serving. A product is marked as tested only when the testing program lists it. We don't sell the products.

The label math

Price per serving

For creatine monohydrate, one serving is 5 g. Tub price divided by how many of those servings are in the tub is the number on the row. Capsules use the creatine grams on the label, not the capsule count.

  1. Read the store

    Every morning: price, size and stock, from each store's own product data.

  2. Do the label math

    Divide the price by the servings the label states, on the list's dose.

  3. Line them up

    Lowest price per serving first. Different forms stay on different lists.

Every list has its own serving. The label decides the count, never a guess.

  • 1 g EPA+DHA

    Fish oil and algae DHA

    For fish oil we use 1 g of EPA + DHA. Bottle price divided by the grams of EPA and DHA on the label is the number on the card. We do not use total fish-oil milligrams, and we do not guess a serving count the page does not state.

    Algae uses that same 1 g of EPA + DHA. It is a different source, so it stays on its own tab. It is not ranked against fish oil.

    Magnesium glycinate

    For magnesium glycinate we use 100 mg of elemental magnesium. The label has to state elemental magnesium, plus how many servings or capsules are in the bottle. The weight of the glycinate compound is not the dose. Oxide and blends stay off.

Keeping forms separate

  • Monohydrate and Creapure monohydrate share one list.
  • Creatine HCl sits on its own list so it is not priced against mono.
  • Fish oil and algae DHA each have their own list.
  • Zinc glycinate and zinc oxide do not share a list.
  • Caffeine pills, gum, and pre-workout do not share a list.
  • We will not claim two formulas match unless the supplement facts panels actually match.

Testing

What counts as tested

A product counts as third-party tested only when a testing program lists it in the program's own public database. A brand saying so on its page is not enough. We look the product up ourselves, match the name, form and size, and keep the link to the listing and the day we checked. The row then names the program in small text. That text links to the listing.

  • Creapure is the name of a creatine ingredient, not a test of the finished tub. It shows in the price line, not as a test.
  • A non-GMO mark is not a purity or label test, so it does not count.
  • A certificate the brand hosts itself shows as “Certificate published by seller”. We have not checked it with a lab, so it does not count as tested.
  • If the program's database does not list the product, we show nothing, even when the brand's page claims a program.
  • The Tested filter on each list keeps only products that meet this rule.

We do not operate a laboratory and we do not test anything ourselves. A listing is checked on the day shown and can lapse; the program's own page is the final word.

Order

Sort order

  • When a tab has a brand people already buy, that listing sits first. It is the price to compare against.
  • Anything cheaper per serving comes next, lowest first.
  • Affiliate links do not change the price.
  • We only list stores that run an affiliate program. A store without one is left off, even when it is cheaper.
  • Anything paid sits below the list and is labeled as sponsored.

  • Only products that cost less per serving than the list's popular brand can win, so every award is still a saving.
  • A product holds one award at most, and the best value holds none, since it already sits at the top. If an award's winner is already shown, that award is left out rather than given to a runner-up.
  • An award only appears when a product actually meets its rule.
  • Awards are not reviews and say nothing about quality, taste or results. Affiliate commissions and payments never decide them.

Freshness

How often prices refresh

A worker reads each brand's public storefront and saves the price, size, and product link. The board shows that snapshot. This is a daily check, not a minute-by-minute feed.
