Best collagen peptides 2026: price per 10 g
Collagen peptide powders ranked by price per 10 g against Vital Proteins, the cheapest third-party tested pick, and what the research does and doesn't support.
Collagen tubs are hard to compare on the shelf. One scoop is 10 g, another is 20 g, and the tub price says nothing about how many of those scoops you get. Pricing every powder per 10 g of collagen puts them on the same footing.

How these picks are chosen
Our collagen list prices collagen peptide powders per 10 g of collagen, from each store's price and its own label. Marine (fish) collagen sits on its own marine collagen tab and is not ranked against bovine peptides. Only powders cheaper per 10 g than Vital Proteins qualify. Nothing is ranked by commission. See how it works for the full rules.
- Best value: the lowest price per 10 g today.
- Best regular size: the cheapest per 10 g in a container about the size of Vital Proteins', for when the best value is a bulk bag.
- Best third-party tested: the cheapest powder listed in a testing program's own database, such as Informed Choice. A seller's own claim does not count.
- Best for stocking up: the most 10 g servings in one container.
- Runner-ups: the next lowest prices.

What you're buying
Collagen peptides are hydrolyzed collagen: collagen broken into small pieces that dissolve easily. Most powders come from cows (bovine, mostly types I and III) or fish (marine, mostly type I). There is no good evidence that one source works better. On our list, marine powders usually cost more per 10 g than bovine ones.
Some products use trademarked peptides that were tested in their own trials at specific doses. Verisol was tested at 2.5 g a day for skin. Fortigel was tested at 5 g a day for activity-related knee pain. If you want the result from a specific trial, buy that ingredient at that dose. Otherwise, generic peptides are the value choice.
What the evidence supports
- Skin: a 2021 meta-analysis of 19 trials reported better hydration, elasticity and wrinkles with hydrolyzed collagen. A 2025 meta-analysis of 23 trials in The American Journal of Medicine split the studies by funding. Benefits appeared only in industry-funded studies. Studies without industry funding, and the highest-quality studies, found no significant effect.
- Joints: two trials of a branded peptide at 5 g a day reported less activity-related knee pain than placebo in young, active adults. In the larger, 2021 trial, the ingredient's maker supplied the peptides and helped fund the research. The evidence is limited.
- Muscle: collagen is an incomplete protein because it lacks tryptophan. It is not a substitute for whey or other complete proteins. See whey isolate vs concentrate for protein per dollar.

How much collagen per day
There is no official dose. Skin trials used a wide range: a 2023 meta-analysis of 26 trials lists daily doses from under 1 g to 12 g, with 2.5 g, 5 g and 10 g common. Our list prices every powder per 10 g so tubs compare fairly. If you take 5 g, halve the price shown.
Label checks
- Grams per scoop. Scoops run from about 10 g to 20 g or more. A tub with fewer, bigger scoops can look cheaper per serving and still cost more per 10 g.
- Unflavored vs flavored. Unflavored powder is usually the cheaper way to buy the collagen itself, and it mixes into coffee or food.
- Gummies and shots. Check the grams of collagen per serving. A whole gummy weighs only a few grams, so reaching 10 g of collagen takes a handful.
- Testing. If you are drug tested for sport, buy a product listed by a program such as Informed Choice or NSF Certified for Sport, and check the listing yourself. More in third-party tested supplements.
How to use collagen powder
Unflavored hydrolyzed collagen dissolves in hot and cold liquids and has little taste, so most people stir it into coffee, tea, a smoothie or oatmeal. Collagen peptides are already broken down, so they do not set like the gelatin used in desserts.
Who should skip it or check first
- Fish or shellfish allergies: avoid marine collagen, or check the source on the label.
- Diet rules: bovine and porcine collagen are not vegetarian. Check the source if you avoid beef or pork.
- Kidney disease or protein limits: collagen is protein and counts toward your total. Ask your doctor first.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or medications: ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting a new supplement.
- Expectations: if you notice nothing after about three months, it is reasonable to stop and keep the money.
When to pay more
Pay more for a third-party listing if you are drug tested for sport, or for a branded peptide if you are copying a specific study at its dose. Do not pay more for "beauty" branding on plain collagen.
